There's no best platform, only the places your customer already talks about the problem. This skill searches for how they describe it, shortlists the communities that keep appearing, checks each one is real and full of buyers, and picks two to show up in properly.

“It's not a case of 'where would I start?'... It's a case of 'where's the most effective place to start?'”
There's no best platform. There's only where your customer already is.
"Should I be on LinkedIn, X or Reddit?" is the wrong question. The useful one is: where does this particular person spend time, and where do they say out loud that they have this problem? The answer is often somewhere no marketing guide mentions.
What you need
- Who the customer is. Run Who buys from me first if it isn't clear.
- A few phrases they'd use when describing the problem.
Steps
Think about their life, not your product. Your product sits in a category. Your customer has a job, hobbies, tools they use every day and people they follow. A tool for indie game developers is found where game developers talk about making games, not where people talk about marketing tools.
Search for the complaint. Search the phrases they'd use, on Google and inside the platforms themselves. Note where the results come from. The communities that keep appearing are your shortlist, including ones you'd never have guessed.
Open each one and read. Are the people posting there the kind of people who'd buy, or are they mostly students, hobbyists or others selling the same thing? Is it active this month? Does anyone describe the problem in their own words?
Read the house rules. Many communities ban self-promotion or links. Note what's allowed before you post anything.
Pick two. Depth beats breadth. Two places where you show up properly beat ten where you post once.
Output
Places worth your time:
1. <place> · <why the right people are there> · <what they talk about> · <promotion rules>
2. ...
Start with: <the first two, and the first useful thing to do in each>
Looked right but skip: <places, and why>
Rules
- Only recommend places you've confirmed exist. If you can't check, say so.
- Smaller places where your customer is active often beat big platforms, where reaching people without paying is hard and your following belongs to the algorithm.
- Spend a week reading a community before you post in it. Learn how people talk there.
- Give before you ask. The best communities notice who helps.
